How do the sessions start?

An initial meeting will give us an opportunity to explore how we might best work together. No further obligation is assumed by either party as a result of attending the initial meeting. You may decide at that point that you don't want to continue any further or I may decide that the material you want to work on falls outside my areas of expertise and experience and that it might be better for you to work with someone else. If we decide that we would want to work together we can begin to establish an initial number of sessions to commit to and build in an appropriate review so we can reflect on the process and determine how best to move the work forward.

How many sessions will I need?

This can depend on a number of different factors. We can discuss your particular requirements when we meet. The number of sessions can always be part of our on-going review process. I do not require you to commit to long-term work as a matter of course.

How long does a session last?

I work to a 'therapeutic hour' of 50 minutes duration. I offer a range of appointment times, some evenings and weekends included. Please call me to find out more or use the contact form.

How often are the sessions?

We meet at least once a week, maybe more often if we need to.

Can I bring anyone with me, and are there any childcare facilities?

The sessions are for the individual or couples seeking help, but please make contact in this regard, I am committed to equal opportunities and so can be flexible in special circumstances.

Is smoking allowed during a session?

Smoking is not permitted in the building.

How do I use your telephone and Zoom service?

We agree a time and you make a payment for the full amount prior to the session by bank transfer.

Phone - the call is made at the allotted time.

Zoom - a link will be sent to you by email before the session is scheduled to start.

How much do your sessions cost?

My current rate is £50 for individuals, either in person, by phone or remotely by Zoom. £75 for couples. Children's sessions are £50 for 40 minutes. Low cost counselling is available. Please contact me so that we can discuss your needs.

Payment will be required prior to your appointment in order to secure your booking.

How can I pay for a session?

By cash or bank transfer within 24 hours of booking your appointment. Please see the details on the Booking page for details on how to pay.

Change or cancellation of appointment

If you need to cancel or change your appointment I politely request 24 hours notice. Any change made in less than 24 hours will result in a cancellation fee of the appointment cost.

"In my early professionals years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?"
